The Big Maracas
The Big Maracas formed sometime back around the turn of the century, the prime movers and maraca shakers being Venezuelan ex-patriot and artist Enrique Gonzalez, and Chris Sullivan, later adding Chris' fellow Swells Warren Byrom and Andy Mason. The Maracas delve into numerous branches of Latin and Tropical music, being particularly fond of the great Cuban traditions and Brazilian samba, but that's only the beginning. A few of the styles you'll hear from the Big Maracas include Son, Mambo, Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Salsa, Cumbia, Boogaloo, Calypso, Plena, Forro, Tango, and many others, sometimes including Latin Rock, or other as-of-yet uninvented sub-genres. You may think the average American doesn't dance, but somehow this proves incorrect at a Maracas show, owing to the infectiousness of the styles the Maracas like to play. All the better. Que bueno baila usted!........
